The Armenians call this mountain Giant circle, it reaches 40 kilometers. Melt water flowing down from the peaks of Ararat, makes part of the Anatolian plain in a fertile land. The peak of the mountain the locals call agri-Dagi, which means «mountain of suffering». It towers above the plain of the river Arax and looks like something unearthly compared with the harsh landscape.

First of all, mount Ararat is famous not for its natural beauty of the slopes, and thanks to the biblical tradition. According to one version, it is to this mountain Noah’s ark landed on after the subsided waters of the flood. Precise instructions this book does not, but the Armenians think that the ark landed on mount agri-Dagi. Also the inhabitants of the country believe that the Armenians were the first who peopled the Earth after the flood.
